Entertainment & Night Life
Entertainment
Local theatres such as Palace (M.G. Marg, Civil Lines, Tel: 2624691) and Ajanta (Zero Road, Tel: 2400542) show all the recent Bollywood movies. For show details, look up any local daily. The Prayag Sangeet Samiti holds classical music shows and Hindi plays, a must visit for culture connoisseurs. It is a well-known landmark and any auto/cab driver will take you there.
Nightlife
Pubs and nightclubs are unheard of here. If you want an evening drink, stick to the bigger hotels as entering stand-alone bars is inviting trouble.
Kidding Around
Allahabad does not have much to offer in terms of entertainment avenues for kids. There are a couple of multiplexes and shopping malls which offer the usual play grounds and movies. Being a city steeped in history, you could take your kids on a tour of the Ananda Bhavan, the Nehru family estate which is now a museum. It was at this house that Indira Gandhi was born, and it was here that many discussions about the freedom struggle took place.
