Shopping
Allahabad doesn't have much to offer in terms of shopping. However you may consider buying religious paraphernalia, including flowers, vermilion powder and coconuts from the small stalls on the way to the Sangam and offer to the rivers. You can also pick up kitsch arthuge posters of gods and goddesses, shiny gold idols, brass lamps and plates, and prayer books.
And if you spot guavas (amrood), a local favourite, don?t ever pass them by. You can't get sweeter and more seedless amrood anywhere else.
If you are into Hindi literature, then stop by Allahabad Book Centre on MG Marg. It has practically every published work in Hindi, be it poetry, novel or short story. Universal Book Centre in Civil Lines and Bharat Book Depot on Vivekanand Marg are two other alternatives.
