Copenhagen
book a hotel find a flight
(Denmark)

Style and substance rule happily from a well-designed throne.

Copenhagen has been Denmark's capital for 600 years. It's an appealing and largely low-rise city comprised of block after block of period six-storey buildings. Church steeples punctuate the skyline, with only a couple of modern hotels marring the view.

It's a city that takes only thirty minutes to walk across on foot, but seems to take you back hundreds of years. Whatever you're looking for -sleek or cosy, gay or straight, traditional or modern - it can provide. It's even affordable in Scandinavian terms.

Copenhagen Jazz House
  (jazz/blues)

This is the city's leading jazz spot, featuring top Danish musicians and occasional international performers. The music runs the gamut from bebop to fusion jazz so there is something for every taste, and there's a large dance floor.

Studenterhuset
  (chillout)

This low-key student hangout near the Rundetårn offers some good, light meals to soak up all the cheap beer that's on offer. Not a bad spot to catch some live music either, or the eye of eager types who more than likely sport Che Guevara posters on their bedroom walls.
