Historic Capital

Imagine squeezing a slice of lemon directly onto your tongue, does it tingle, does it make you wink, does it say enough for now, more later! That's what Delhi does to you, you are never quite sure of how to react to all of it put together as a combination. If you love the climate and the people here, you will never tire of visiting this capital of India, but if you know nobody, you could be quite lost in here. Nevertheless, there's something for almost everyone here, history buffs can feast on an overdose of the great old days of grandeur, the monuments, the forts, the many gates and museums. Shopoholics can quench their lust in a mind-numbing array of shopping expeditions right from bargain sales to the finest luxury stores, from fishing for that white lacy top that's right below a pile of clothes at Lajpat Nagar to the very propah clothes destination at Greater Kailash (GK as it is called), South Extension and the array of Malls. Foodies need to watch their waistline or carry jeans at least a size larger, for Delhi is all about great dining experiences right from mouthwatering delicacies dished out at road side chaat corners to the elegant French plates where you can nibble on your Olive Oil Brownies with Toasted Walnut in beautiful old ruins that now house many a trendy boutique and restaurant. Of course some of Delhi's charm also comes from its attitude, as broad as the roads of Delhi, if we may say so! It's flooded with lavishly appointed homes and more than its share of the country's influential folk, richly clothed and dripping diamonds in broad daylight! Women actually dress to go shopping! Which is our way of reminding you to carry a lot of good and we mean real good, clothes when you travel to Delhi, it's all about being seen at the right place in the right clothes.

Once a part of the Aravalies, today Delhi has only the ridge area to tell the story of the greenery this place once had. Delhi is actually a land locked area with the Himalayas to the North, Haryana on two sides and to the east, across the river Yamuna, lies Uttar Pradesh. The river Yamuna runs through the centre of Delhi.
Weather:

One of Delhi's drawbacks is that for more than half the year the climate is lousy. For about four months - from November until about March - it's fine, with daytime temperatures between 21 and 30°C (70-86°F). However, by the end of April it's hot, while May and June are really hot - temperatures can swoop up to more than 45°C (113°F). In July it gets cooler but the humidity really hits, often with all-day rain through August and September.
