Where to Eat
Dharamsala's best bet for dining out is its hotels that serve a pan-North Indian cuisine of the butter chicken/tandoori variety. A few dhabas will provide you with snacks, but don't count on much more.
The clear exception, of course, is McLeodganj where the Tibetan eateries all through the main street provide food for the soul. Here you will find momos, thukpa soup, chowmein and any number of Tibeto-Chinese combinations. Clearly the best place to eat out. The roadside diners are quaint, small and inexpensive. Try La-ping, a spicy Tibetan snack, at street corners. Meals at Snow Lion (try their lemon curd cake) and Nick's Kitchen (Italian veg) are also recommended. Lovely pancakes, hummus sandwiches and a wide variety of herb teas are on offer too. |
