Famous for its tehzeeb, you will have a tough time choosing from the many options the city has lined up for its visitors. Look in the local papers for notices of various events before you plan your day so you do not miss out on something.
The city has a golf course open to the public in La Martiniere School and a racecourse in the Cantonment. For those who are interested in some quiet reading, the British Library in Hazratganj is a good place, besides Ameeruddaula Library(Kaiserbagh), American Cultural Centre Library(Chandiwali, Baradari ) and Tagore Library. And if you are lucky or if you have the right contacts don't miss a chance to spend an evening in one of Lucknow's Raj-era clubs; you need to know a club member to gain entry.

With people who believe in the dictum 'work hard and party harder', the night is young. Mehfil (Taj Mahal Hotel, Vipinkhand, Gomtinagar), Tashna Bar, (Hotel Gomti, Sapru Marg) and Clarks Awadh (8, Mahatma Gandhi Marg) all have an impressive bar and great ambience. Teetotalers may book a seat at Mayfair (Hazratganj, Tel: 4225858), Novelty (Lalbagh, Tel: 4216575) and Pratibh (opposite the Secretariat, Tel: 4222977) and enjoy a date with their favourite stars.

Ambedkar Park and the Lohia Park are two popular hangout places where kids can just enjoy themselves. The Ambedkar Park has a lot of activities for kids including boating and specific play areas.
If you are more interested in theme parks, head out to the Water theme parks Amrapali and Anandi. Both these parks provide for some great family time.
