Nightlife
As a rule, Mangalore sleeps early. But then the rules are meant to be broken! If you want to hang out with friends over a few drinks then walk into the Liquid Lounge on Mila Gres Road. Frequented by the youth of the town, this is one of the most popular hangouts. The Pegasus on the Jeppinamogaru near the Fisheries College is an up market waterhole. While at Managalore do check out Black Orchid at Kadri. It is one of the most happening places. There are a lot of bars linked to hotels which also serve alcohol. Life flows into the pubs by 7 pm and they close at around 11 pm.
Kidding Around
GM Amusement and Leisure at Pilikula has water sports, electro-mechanical games, a musical fountain and other amusement park regulars. Backwater and sunset cruises as well as speed boat cruises are also available. Taj Manjarun Overlooking the sea and the tranquil Netravati and Gurupur rivers provides trekking, river/sea kayaking, rappelling, river rafting and rock climbing. Besides these there is rafting on the Seetanadi River (30 km away), and water skiing, parasailing, and surfing on Malpe Beach and Udyavara River. The eastern side of Udupi District is covered with thick forests of the Western Ghats and offers some exciting trekking opportunities.
