Where to Eat
For super authentic Goan food, reserve a table at Nostalgia at Uzro in Raia (Tel: 2777054). Your kids will be distracted at the park and you?ll be distracted by Fernando da Costa's tart Goan prawn curry. Fernando promises tastes of the days Grandpa fancied Grandma.
Longuinhos in Margao (Tel: 2739908) recalls the times when the Portuguese Governor General threw parties there. Portuguese music lends a touch of nostalgia to regulars, who come here for the excellent Goan food. At Utorda, make for the famous Zeebop By the Sea beach shack (2755333) for sea views. Goodman at Colva is a pub with a pool table serving Conti, Indian, Goan, Italian (2788041). Kentuckee Seafood (2788107) is the most famous restaurant on Colva Beach, probably due to the huge lobsters they serve. The oft-repeated claim of Martin's Corner at Betalbatim is that Gregory Peck and Roger Moore ate here. It's known for its succulent seafood (2880061). In Cavelossim, Garden Pub (2871279) does superior fried pomfret and king prawns. Mike's Place (2871248/ 1281) here is also good for seafood. For a unique thrill, call Alisons Riverside Hotel (2760493, 2762917) in Cutbon near Cavelossim, and get directed to Newton's Shack, where you get a complimentary boat pick-up across the River Sal to the restaurant. |
