Catch a Tiger by its tail

Reputed to be among of India's finest, people have been known to complain that the tigers at Ranthambore National Park are almost tame! On the flip side, sightings are high a fact former US President Bill Clinton will vouch for and the drives are spectacular, with views of the Ranthambhore Fort, the legendary Jogi Mahal, lotus-covered Raj Bagh, and the Semli and Berda Valleys. What's more, ruins of summer palaces and hunting lodges quaint remnants of Rajput architecture dot the landscape at Ranthambhore.

Where to Eat
All the hotels in Ranthambhore have restaurants, and most serve local Rajasthani cuisine. Try bajre-ki-roti, spicy garlic chutneys and salty-sweet chhaas. Be warned that they are more than liberal with the humble red chilli. There are also plenty of budget restaurants in the Sawai Madhopur bazaar if you want a break from the fare at your resort. A bright red, sourish drink made out of the phalsa berries that grow in the desert slakes many a thirst in Rajasthan. In Ranthambhore, you will find it only in summer.
