Catch a Tiger by its tail

Reputed to be among of India's finest, people have been known to complain that the tigers at Ranthambore National Park are almost tame! On the flip side, sightings are high a fact former US President Bill Clinton will vouch for and the drives are spectacular, with views of the Ranthambhore Fort, the legendary Jogi Mahal, lotus-covered Raj Bagh, and the Semli and Berda Valleys. What's more, ruins of summer palaces and hunting lodges quaint remnants of Rajput architecture dot the landscape at Ranthambhore.

Vanya Vilas

Sawai Madhopur Lodge
The 73-year-old Sawai Madhopur Lodge erstwhile hunting lodge of the former Raja Sawai Mansingh II of Jaipur is a short 20-min ride from Ranthambhore. Here you can live luxuriously in well-appointed tents set amidst 12 acres of lush gardens.

Tiger Den
It is near the helipad, close to the park, has a multi-cuisine restaurant (not open to walk-ins), a swimming pool, a garden and parking. Expert naturalists from the resort accompany you on a safari through the Park. The resort also arranges fishing expeditions at the banks of River Chambal (35 km) and excursions to Mansarovar Lake (30 km).

RTDC's Castle Jhoomar Baori
A renovated royal hunting lodge, has character and atmosphere. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip once stayed here as guests of Maharaja Man Singh before the castle was turned into a hotel. The Prince also added his name to the long list of those who've killed a tiger here, though this was before the jungle was turned into a sanctuary.

Bhadrawati Safari Lodge
It is located on virgin countryside on the banks of the Chambal River in Savati Village, 35 km from Sawai Madhopur City. The lodge takes you boating on traditional tribal kevat boats and arranges fishing, rifle shooting and treks, apart from safaris.
