Some of the bigger hotels allow non-guests to use their swimming pools for a fee. Since the currents in the sea are too strong, except in the Lawson Bay area, you may capitalise on this facility.

There is limited scope for a vibrant nightlife, considering that there is an uncompromisable deadline set for party animals. At the stroke of midnight, the music dies out, the lights are switched off and people are sent home packing.
The young frequent Music Cafefor its food and music. It also has a karaoke bar and a dance floor called Black Box. Snooker parlours are very popular here - Planet Q (in Siripuram), Rodeo (VUDA Complex), and Yankee Club (near CDR) have great ambience and good music playing all the time. Yankee Club also has a video game parlour, an internet cafeone and a dance room.
If you want to shake a leg or two, the Park (Beach Road, Tel: 2754488) and the Taj (Beach Road, Tel: 2567756, 2564371) hotels organise disco nights every Saturday. The Park plays Techno and Trance. Someplace Else (at The Park) also hosts a Saturday Night Party. Senora, a beach resort located on the outskirts, also boasts of a dance floor.
Pubs
Chrome and 10 Downing Street are two pubs located in Siripuram. The bars in the city are restricted to the hotels and expensive. The Park Hotel has a decent bar that mixes divine Screw Drivers. Daspalla's Dimple (Surya Bagh, Tel: 2564825)too serves decent drinks, though it can be noisy at times.

Children's Theatre
Vizag Urban Development Authority (VUDA)'s gift to the city's tots is a children's theatre. Located in the heart of the city, this wonderful theatre is built in the shape of a dolphin where children's movies are screened over the weekend (absolutely free). Other events are also held here; the local dailies will apprise you of them.
Vuda Park
Named after N.T. Rama Rao, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, but popularly known as Vuda Park, it has dancing fountains, boating, a skating rink, well-equipped gymnasium and camel and horse rides.
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park
Sandwiched between National Highway 5 and Beach Road, and sprawling over 625 acres, the zoo is home to almost 700 animals. Look out for the Deer Safari, nocturnal animals, toy train, and views of the Bay of Bengal. Check at the gate about van rides, as it is killing to cover the zoo on foot.
